Hi ITT Girls !!!
Thank you for Visiting! I hope you find some extra Inspiration for Your Day! Remember, all Articles are Me sharing from My Unique Perspective & Daily Lifestyle Experiences. In the end, You have to decide what works best for Your Daily Lifestyle!
Last Week (click here to Read) in ITT Land, we talked about the importance of getting Your Beauty Sleep. In My Opinion, another important "New Year's Resolution" / "New Year's Goal" to make = GO TO CHURCH SERVICE.
Now, when you are Under 18 Years Old, your approach to Church Service Attendance is Guided by Your Parents. We all are coming from a variety of Parenting Styles, so this Discussion will definitely go on longer than 1 Week, lol. ;) This Week, we are going to offer some Tips and Encouragement to the Girl whose Family falls under the Category of "Faithful Church Goers". Meaning, they are not "Church Leaders". They simply "Attend" a Church Service(s) Weekly. If this isn't you, still Read along! You'll definitely gather some insight into what Your Peers are going through. =)
Spotlight Bible verse = Prince Moses said, "There, in the presence of the LORD your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the LORD your God has blessed you." (Deuteronomy 12:7, NIV)
Reminder to Self = Church Service is a great time to Reflect upon and Rejoice over the wonderful Miracles that God gave You during the Week. =)
In My Opinion, Attending a Church Service on a regular basis is a good thing. If you have a Family that makes it a Priority to Get Up, Get Dressed, Get Out, and Sit on a Seat in a Church Service, count Yourself Blessed! ;) So many Parents don't make Attending a Church Service(s) a Priority for Their Family. Sooooo, take the Time to tell Your Parent(s), "Thank you for taking Me to Church every Week!" Yesssss, even if it's a Bizarre and Untheologically Sound Church. (We'll talk more about that later, lol) ;)
Take Ownership and Responsibility for Getting Up and Getting Out. If you can get up and go to School (yesssss, even if you are Homeschooled, lol) you can get up and go to Church. Don't rely on Your Parent(s) to navigate this. But also remember, you aren't responsible for (and should never feel Guilty about) if everyone else in Your Family is Tired, Rushed, Frustrated, and Late. They have the same 24 Hours a Day as you do. ;)
Sit back, Relax, and Enjoy The Show. If Your Family falls into the Category of "Faithful Church Goers", then You are in a very Privileged Position.Take advantage of this Free Gift. Listen, Observe, Contemplate, Learn, etc.
School is shady. The Business World is shady. The Entertainment Industry is shady. The Fashion World is shady. The Grocery Store is shady. Sooooo, ta-daThe Church is shady. But, the Fact = You can Learn something Valuable for Your Life from anyone. Even if what You Learn is, "I don't ever want to end up like them." ;) Ask God to help Guide You. He will definitely open Your Eyes, Ears, Heart, Mind, etc. to something You need to Know in Life (for Your Present or Future). =)
Spotlight Bible verse = King Solomon said, "By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures." (Proverbs 24:3-4, NIV)
Reminder to Self = Always take full advantage of the opportunity to learn from someone else's insight. It helps make Your Lifestyle stronger. ;)
Stay Mentally Engaged. Don't allow Your Mind to drift off (even if the Sermon is boring, lol). Don't allow Your Attention to be distracted. Popular Church Service Sightings = crying Babies, People wandering around, People falling asleep, People making out, People filming / broadcasting themselves online and so much more... Sigh... =/ ITT Girls don't go to Church to waste Their Time.
The #1 way that I have helped Myself stay Mentally Engaged in literally thousands of Church Services (Sunday AM, Sunday PM, Wednesday PM, Saturday PM, Youth Ministry, College Ministry, Singles Ministry, Small Group, Chapel twice a Week in Bible College, Christian Leadership Conferences, Watching Church Services on Television, Watching Church Services Online, Listening to Church Services on the Radio, Listening to Sermon Series I bought, and much more, lol) over the Years = ALWAYS TAKE NOTES.
Side Note = I know that taking Notes is not a thing for everyone. Some people have a Learning Disability. So staying Mentally Engaged in a Church Service may present them with a host of Challenges.
So yeah, some Church Services provide Prewritten Notes. Some pass out Printed Copies before Service. Some make them available Online for you to Print and bring with you. If these Options are made available, I highly suggest Utilizing them. Then, Archive them in a cute Binder. ;) You can Create your own. Some Churches have Custom Notebooks available for Free. Some Churches make them available for Purchase in their Church Bookstore / Gift Shop.
If you are Attending a Church Service that doesn't provide Prewritten Notes, buy a Notebook and Create your own. =) This is handy when you find yourself listening to "a Testimony" (aka - a Mini Biography). This is typically the case when a Church is choosing to feature a "Guest Speaker" during Church Service Time.
Ok, so, The Facts are, some Pastors Work. Some don't. It's no different than School. Some Kids take School seriously. Other Kids "just get through". The "Pastor" or "Christian Speaker" that you will find yourself listening to, Once Upon a Time was one of those Kids. =/ Sooooo, some "Sermons" or "Presentations" may be a little more difficult to grasp a Relevant Take Away Point. It's fun though, it's like a Scavenger Hunt, lol.
Story Time = Once Upon a Time I was Attending a Chapel Service in Bible College and we were 5 minutes away from Dismissal. I hadn't written down a single thing. That had never happened to me before... This particular Semester I was required to take Notes at every Chapel Service and turn them in for one of my Youth Ministry Courses. I couldn't believe it! This man had said (in my opinion) nothing concrete. Sooooo, I wrote down, "Never Speak and not have a Main Idea for the Audience to Take Away with them." I got an "A" on that Assignment btw. ;)
Sooooo ITT Girls, some Days that's just what Your Notes will have to consist of. ;)
"Haven't I heard this before..." Stick around Church Services long enough, and you are 100% guaranteed to hear a Sermon repeated. Like verbatim. Same Stories. Same Illustrations. I've even seen the same Outfit. Just Cut, Copied, and Pasted on a different person's body. =/ Again, this is no different than School.
Sooooo, when you find yourself in a situation like this, resist the urge to 100% tune the person out. The Facts are, Airheads and Cheaters are Ignorant and Lazy, but they are not Stupid. They are Sneaky and know to rip off people who are Intelligent and Experts. Sooooo, there is Hope that you might hear something True and Concrete.
So yeah, in The Big Scheme of Things, who cares if the person Communicating is an Insincere Phony. They will have to give an Account to God for what they did in His Church. It's not Your Problem. ;)
Spotlight Bible verse = "Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy." (Revelation 22:11, NIV)
Reminder to Self = Mean Guys / Girls are always very Confident about being Hateful. You continue to always be very Confident about being Kind. ;)
"They don't really teach the Bible at my Church..." Indeed, many Churches use Service Time as a Showcase of The Arts -- Music and Drama. If this is the situation you find yourself in, Listen to the Lyrics of the Songs. Some Churches project them onto Television Screens. Some Churches provide Hymnal Books or Sheet Music. Sooooo, Your Church Service Notes may consist of a Song Lyric or a line from a Drama / Poetry Reading that stood out to you. ;)
"My Parents make me sit in Main Church Service. They refuse to let me go to the Youth Ministry Sunday School Class. They say that the Youth Pastor, his Wife, and Volunteer Leaders look dangerous."
If you find yourself in this situation, don't fight Your Parents. In the Bible, Ephesians 6:1-3 encourages us to respect Our Parents, so that Life will go well for Us. Unfortunately, Youth Ministry at some Churches is a cesspool. Perhaps your Parents know something about the Background Story / Upbringing of the Youth Ministry Leaders and they don't want to get into specifics with you. Either way, trust their Instincts and let it go. If that is the overtone being projected from the Church Youth Ministry, then rest assured, you aren't missing much. Except trouble. ;)
"I hate the Music at my Church..." If this is something that you find yourself uttering (lol), remember to have an open-mind. =) There are so many Genres of Music in existence. Everyone has different preferences. Think of this as a way to expose yourself to a Style that you wouldn't normally Listen to. It will help make you a more Well-rounded Person. =) Plus, you might just hear a Song that you really enjoy one Church Service. ;)
"Communion at my Church is so gross! The Ushers are absolutely disgusting... Coughing everywhere, wiping their mouths, rubbing their eyes... All over the Communion. Not to mention the disgusting people on the seats..."
Amen Sista! ;) I have a Rant about this. But, for sake of Time... Many Senior Level Church Leaders are not in tune with what goes on in the Aisles and on the Seats. Some don't Care. But that's another Rant on top of the first one, lol. So it's safe to say that's why this consistently goes on in Your Church.
If You don't feel comfortable ingesting that, then don't. Politely decline. You will probably get a nasty look, from a nasty Usher (lol), but who cares. They are the Problem. Not You. They are the Person who obviously doesn't take their Church Leadership Position seriously.
God understands your situation. =) Just make sure that the Spirit of Communion Lives in Your Heart every Day. Which is seeking to be on the same Page as Jesus Christ. Which is Love for God, Yourself, and other People. =)
"My Pastor is so loud! He screams at the top of his lungs. It's scary sometimes..."
Ah, another Rant-worthy Topic. ;) I am going to List some potential reasons as to why Your Pastor might be exhibiting this type of Behavior. At some point, I will probably Rant about each one. =) But for now, here are some Factors to consider:
* It's truly His Personality Type
* High on Illegal and/or Prescription Drugs
* Audio Problems
* Peer Pressure / Tradition
* Depressed / Suicidal
* A Gimmick / Marketing Ploy
* Having a Manic Episode
* Hard of Hearing
* Angry (at God, His Wife, His Children, the Church Board of Directors, Himself, etc.)
* Hungry / Dehydrated
* Sleep Deprived / Insomnia
* Trying to keep the Congregation awake, alert, and engaged during his Sermon.
I don't know. You don't know. It could be a Combination of the List above. Pray for him (to yourself, lol). You might just be the only Person in His Life that cares enough to...
Spotlight Bible verse = Jesus Christ said, "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." (Matthew 7:24-25, NIV)
Reminder to Self = People are notrock solid. God is. ;)
