pureNRG "Call on Jesus" / Editor's Currently Listening To

Hi InTheTimes.com Girls!
I'm currently listening to the single "Call on Jesus" by pureNRG from the Here We Go Again album !
"Call on Jesus" has now been categorized as a "classic" and "best-loved" Christian song. It was penned and first sung by Nicole C. Mullen. Nicole's version of the song is absolutely amazing and pureNRG's rendition does not disappoint. They stick close to the original arrangement, but give it their own pureNRG pop vibe.
My fav lyrics? It's hard to decide because this song is so fabulously written... "Call Him in the morning / In the afternoon time / Late in the evening / He'll be there / When your heart is broken / And you feel discouraged / You can just remember that He said / He'll be there"
The fact that we can 'call on Jesus' is one of the central principles of salvation (see Jeremiah 29:12-13 and Matthew 7:7-8 for just a few examples) and therefore, the Christian faith.
I keep pretty odd hours because of the schedule requirements to run an operation such as InTheTimes.com and its sister companies. So the fact that God is available 24/7 to me, is ideal (see Matthew 1:22-23 and John 14:15-31 for just a few examples) ! This fact gives me such comfort, to know that God is here with me...always !!!

Shannon Kubiak-Primicerio Interview
Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 at 12:00 AM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
ITT:When did your love of writing start ?
Shannon: I have always loved writing. In fact, my Second Grade teacher told my mom that I would grow up to be either a Writer or an Attorney. As a child I could always be found telling stories, writing poetry, or keeping a journal.
It wasn’t until I was thirteen that I thought about pursuing a career in writing. That year I won a writing contest and had my poem published on the front page edition of the local newspaper. I was so excited that I photocopied the fifty-dollar check (my winnings) so I would always have a copy of my first paycheck as a Writer.
ITT:When and how did you decide that you wanted to write professionally ?
Shannon: After I won that writing contest in the Eighth Grade, I began looking into careers involving writing. When I entered college, I was still undecided about which avenue to pursue--Teacher, Political Speech Writer, Journalist, etc. Finally I decided to pursue a major in Journalism and I began writing for the university newspaper regularly.
ITT:Give the InTheTimes.com girls a little insight on the writing process for you. How do you get ideas for things to write about, about how long does a project take you to complete, share some practical things you do such as outlines, etc.
Shannon: I have written nine books and I have never once done things exactly the way I did them on the book before.
Ideas usually pop into my mind in conversation with other people. Someone will say something that sparks an interest in me, and a few days later I still find their comment affecting me in some way. Then in my quiet time, I pray over the idea and watch it develop. I have written a book in as short as three weeks (my ninth book) or in as long as six months (my first book).
The one constant (besides prayer) in all of my writing projects is an outline. It is difficult for me to write without one. In fact, I have even been known to draft an outline before writing my thoughts in my journal. I never forget anything that way, it helps me organize my thoughts. I work as a mentor to teens who are aspiring writers and one thing I work on with my students is the concept of outlining before writing.
ITT:Above all, what is the goal of your writing?
Shannon: My personal reasons for writing include: using the gift God has given me in order to give Him glory and communicating life-changing truths to other people.
Each book I have written contains a subject matter I have wrestled through in my own life. And I hope my writing can offer pearls of wisdom to others as they seek to get to know Christ. For instance, with The Divine Dance, I wanted to communicate that we don’t need to perform for other people. Instead we need to focus on living for God alone.
In Life. Now., I wanted to communicate that getting from where you are, to where you want to go in life, comes from taking one step at a time. Overcoming the ten obstacles that tend to derail your dreams.
ITT:Any advice / encouragement for InTheTimes.com girls who desire to become a professional Writer like yourself ? What are some practical things that they can do now as tweens and teens ?
Shannon: I would like to encourage InTheTimes.com girls who want to write to do two things: read everything they can get their hands on and write in a journal a little bit every day.
Try to figure out what you like about what you are reading--analyze how it is written. Imitate that when you write in your journal.
The number one rule of writing is, show, don’t tell. Always, even in Nonfiction writing, create a visual picture for your Reader to see. If you can make someone experience your writing instead of simply read it, you will win them over for life.

Kathleen Carnali "Great Commission" / Editor's Currently Listening To
Monday, July 20th, 2009 at 3:04 AM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
Hi InTheTimes.com Girls!
...it's a little after 3 AM here and to say the very least, things have been super duper busy around the ITT Office !
I'm currently listening to the single "Great Commission" by Kathleen Carnali from her self-titled debut album.
The lyrics "Do you really want holiness / And are you ready for true submission / Are you prepared under any condition / Cause you've got a mission / It is time for you to make a decision / Are you ready now to follow the vision / If you are, get set let's go / It's time to live the Great Commission" ring clear in my head.
When it's tempting to roll over in life, put yourself on cruise control, and 'just get by' it's great to shake it off (especially at 3 AM, lol) and press forward because you are truly living an adventure, The Great Commission !
ITT Girls, God may not be calling you to work into the wee hours of the AM, but what is the vision that He has called you to do, to help accomplish His Great Commission ? (see Matthew 28:18-20) Whatever it is and whatever sacrifices it calls for, do it ! Your part in accomplishing The Great Commission is one that you don't want to miss (see Matthew 7:13-27), no matter how young or old you may be ! Just start with the baby steps and keep going and growing as the years go by !
If you haven't heard the single, click the link above to preview it for free !
Many continued blessings to you ! RUTH
