Hi InTheTimes.com Girls!
I'm currently listening to the single "Open Up the Sky" by FFH from the greatest hits album Far From Home: The FFH Collection (originally released on the Have I Ever Told You album)!
My fav lyrics? For sure the chorus, it's catchy and oh-so encouraging! "So open up the sky / Rain down Your love / I don't care if I / Never get enough / I just want to be / Caught in that flood / So open up the sky"
I get a visual of the great flood during the times of Noah...so much rain fell that the earth was covered... (see Genesis 6-9) However, imagine a flood of God's love! How cool! Well, when we choose to accept God's love, our daily life is flooded! Like the song says, 'I just want to be caught in that flood'! =)

Deidra Hughes Interview
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 at 12:00 AM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
ITT:When did your love of music start? Do you play any instruments?
Deidra: I fell in love with music as a teen. Since my parents were Singers when I was a child, I was always asked to sing as well. I think it became a chore before I could really appreciate it as a teen. (smile)
I wouldn't say that I "play" an instrument, but I can chord a little on the piano.
ITT:When / how did you decide that you wanted to sing professionally?
Deidra: I have always had a passion for music. When my passion for music combined with my passion for Jesus, I realized I was called to full-time ministry.
I was sitting at a TRUTH concert when I realized I had to do something about pursuing my calling, so I auditioned for a Performing Arts High School the next week.
ITT:Any advice / encouragement for the InTheTimes.com girls who desire to be a professional Singer like yourself?
Deidra: When I realized I was called to be an Artist, I knew the only way I could, was to strive for excellence.
If you feel like you have a desire to be a Singer, test the waters. Start taking voice lessons, learn Musical Theory, and start singing in your local Church. Gain as much experience and learning as you can and put your best foot forward!
ITT:Do you do any songwriting? If so, give the InTheTimes.com girls a little insight on the songwriting process for you--how long have you been writing, is there a specific type of song that you prefer to write or that you feel you are gifted to write, etc. ?
Deidra: I have just started the songwriting process and I just finished my second song with a co-writer. I realized that at this stage of the game, I needed to partner myself with people who are skilled writers, to be able to learn from them.
I approach the song writing session with an idea and concept in mind, and then the idea develops from there. I can usually hear if I want a particular song to be an uptempo or a softer ballad.
My passion is to see youth compelled to think about their actions, to make better choices, and for the Church to be whole again. I have a strong passion for families to be restored! When I start to write a song, I write about what I am passionate about and what I want to speak through song.
ITT:Above all, what is the goal of your music / concerts?
Deidra: I want to communicate HOPE! I want to sing songs that uplift the Believer, bring glory to God, and to sing songs with a message that truly ministers.
I am still young at heart, so I love singing songs that are contemporary in style, but do not get in the way of the message.

Cheri Keaggy "There Is Joy In The LORD" / Editor's Currently Listening To

Hi InTheTimes.com Girls!
I'm currently listening to the single "There Is Joy In The LORD" by Cheri Keaggy from the Very Best of Cheri Keaggy album (originally released on the There Is Joy In The LORD album) !
My fav lyrics? The entire song is amazingly inspiring, so this is a hard one! "All blessing and honor are His / All glory and power are His / Let all wisdom and strength / Be the Lord's in this place / Let all glory be given to Him"
As humans it seems as if we spend our whole life chasing blessings, honor, glory, power, wisdom, and strength... However, all of these things are truly found in Christ! When we take the time to cultivate a personal relationship with the LORD, all of these desires become ours. (see Psalm 37) Then we will give God alone the praise for all that He has given to us! The journey won't be easy, but in the end, it is well worth it!
