Krissy Nordhoff on Having Personal & Unique Quiet Times...
Friday, November 14, 2008 at 3:24 AM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
ITT:Touring...writing...recording...family & friend time...you time...how do you balance having a "quiet time" with God? You know, Bible study, prayer, just hanging with Him. What are some disciplines that have really helped you keep God as the focus of your life that you'd like to share with the InTheTimes.com girls?
Krissy: First of all, the Message Bible rocks my world! This Bible really brings a very fresh, poetic version, and has inspired many songs. Also, lately I feel like the Lord has asked me to sing the Psalms to Him during my devotional time. I literally prop up my Bible (The Message) on the piano and sing. Sometimes a song comes, but my whole intention is just to be with the Lord. Music is my spiritual
language, so for me it is most natural to "sing" my devotions. That's a big part of what songwriting is to me.
I would encourage other girls to really find new ways of doing devotions. If you're an artist, try painting a verse; if you're a writer, journal out your devotions; if you're a runner / walker, try listening to a devotional podcast while exercising.

Jenn Weber on Joy...

ITT:What's something really cool that God has been teaching you recently in life?
Jenn: I've been learning a lot about JOY. Not the kind where you laugh and milk comes out your nose, though I do find that amusing, but the kind of JOY that is not bound by circumstances. I have the tendency to match my attitude to my current situation, and the Lord has really been teaching me that true JOY comes from knowing, trusting and hoping in Him, no matter what is going on around me!

Caroline: I like to pray to God each night before I go to sleep. Sometimes,
I wake up in the night and everyone else in the house is asleep, and I lie in my bed and talk to God. It makes me feel peaceful and helps me remember to always have God as the focus of my life.

Carolyne: Usually I have my quiet time with the Lord in my bed at night, right before my sister comes up to do her homework. The great thing about getting to know God, is that you learn to trust Him. Because whenever there is something that I am not sure about, I put it in His hands and He always sends me down the right path.

What are some disciplines that have really helped you keep God as the focus of your life that you'd like to share with the InTheTimes.com girls?
Tammy: I try not to travel too much during the week or on Sundays so that I can spend time with my family and friends during the week and go to my own church on Sundays...which I love, love, love. Time with Jesus is soo important to me, I spend just about every minute of the day with Him because He's a part of everything I do. Being on my own now, it's just us most of the time. I'm always talking aloud to Him, we have a wonderful REAL relationship. I feel the presence of God all around me all the time. It's the only way to live because for me it keeps me looking and watching for Him always.
