ITT:What's something really cool that God has been teaching you recently in life?
Alli: I tend to be an anxious person and God is constantly showing me that He is in control and I have nothing to be anxious about. I just need to live each moment I'm given the best I can, which is a hard thing to do but I'm learning.

Alisa Childers on Quiet Time with God...
Thursday, November 20th, 2008 at 9:53 AM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
ITT:Touring...writing...recording...family & friend time...you time...how do you balance having a "quiet time" with God? You know, Bible study, prayer, just hanging with Him. What are some disciplines that have really helped you keep God as the focus of your life that you'd like to share with the InTheTimes.com girls?
Alisa: I find that I connect most with God through music. When I really need time with Him, I'll sit down at the piano and just begin to sing songs expressing my gratefulness to Him. Usually, one or two new songs will come out of that.
As far as Bible study goes, I have always loved to study the Bible. I love to break it down to the original Greek or Hebrew text, and match that with a study of the history and context.
This year, I have put that aside, and I'm reading the New Testament in the New Living Translation. It's been mind-blowing to read the words of Christ translated so simply.
I will get back to the more serious study, but sometimes I need to put aside the intellectual stuff, and just let the words wash over me.

Lindsey Kane on Living a Full Life...
Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 at 12 AM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
ITT:What's something really cool that God has been teaching you recently in life?
Lindsey: Through life experiences, prayer, and the Word, God is teaching me that life is to be lived to the fullest—no mediocre living in boredom and redundancy!
The Lord says in John 10:10, that Jesus came to give us life and life abundantly! God wants us to sink our teeth into life and live for His glory and His pleasure! We need to know that His grace is sufficient for this kind of living and that it is possible.
Some might think that it is impossible to enjoy life because of all of the pain and sorrow in the world, but I believe that in the midst of pain, regardless of what you are going though, the fact that Jesus is right there gives such encouragement. Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us.
In John 14:6, Jesus says that He is life, so if I want to experience true life, I must experience Christ. I love that I can come to the Lord. He longs for me to run to Him and experience life with Him. He alone satisfies, and His love lasts! So, I love that I'm learning to love and enjoy life through loving God and loving people. I so long for people around me to know Christ and His love.

Q: Is there a certain amount of time that I should read the Bible everyday?
Monday, November 17th 2008 at 10:49 AM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
A: The Bible is a very important book, it is our instruction manual for life from God, so spending time reading it is very important.
Please note that there is a big difference between reading the Bible and learning from the Bible...you want to learn from the Bible.
Some ways to do this are:
+ First get on a regular Bible reading schedule: Decide what times you are going to do your Bible study. Ideas include: when you first wake up before you get dressed / eat, on the ride to school, during a Study Hall / Lunch / Break Time at school, right after you come home from school, before you do your homework, after Dinner, before bed, etc.
+ You may also want to utilize a 'read through the Bible in one year' schedule to help guide your daily reading times. Most Bibles have these schedules in the back or front section.
+ You may also want to utilize a Bible study guide--something that is helping you learn specific truths from the Word of God in a timely fashion. InTheTimes.com has designed a line of "Devotional Diaries" to aid you in your Bible Study time, click here for more information !
Living the Christian life is something that you work on day by day, so you will never stop learning from reading the Word of God no matter how young or old you are. You'll learn something new, exciting, and helpful every time you pick the Bible up and study it !
As a Christian you should seek to show progress in your study of God's Word, so keep at it ! There is no set time that you should read the Bible everyday. However, think of it like anything else important that you have to study for...equations for your math test, your lines for the school musical, historical facts for your history test, the lyrics for your solo, vocabulary for your foreign language test, the dance steps for your routine, etc., so you want to spend an appropriate amount of time studying the Bible as well. The Bible is the playbook for your daily life !
“He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers.” (Proverbs 19:8)
