Q: Every year on Easter Sunday, my Church is filled with cleavage, bare backs, well, you get the point... There have to be more modest "Easter Dresses" to choose from... I usually wear a cute skirt and top, but this year, I want to wear a dress... Any modest style ideas? Nothing "old fashioned", something chic, modern, and age-appropriate. Thanks!
Ruth: Congrats on wanting to uphold modesty in Church! Especially on a day that is celebrating our LORD Jesus' Resurrection. (Read Matthew 28 in the Bible for more info)
Fashion is fun! There is nothing wrong with being a rockin' fashionista at Church or anywhere else. But at the same time, we shouldn't seek to be a distraction on the pews. (see 1 Timothy 2:9-10)
4 THINGS TO KNOW about Modest & Modern Easter Dresses ...
+ Go Green: Pick an "Easter Dress" that you can mix 'n' match throughout the Spring Season.
+ Double Up: Get really savvy and find a dress that you can double up as a "Prom Dress" or other "Spring Special Occasion Dress".
+ Get Creative: Immodest dresses can easily be turned into modest dresses with some creativity! (Read our article, "Modesty 101" for more styling ideas)
+ Utilize Cover-Ups: Always have a selection of Shrugs, Boleros, Cardigans, Ponchos, etc. in your wardrobe, for emergency modesty situations.
Happy Easter !
