Q: As a girl, is it wrong for me to not wear make-up?
Friday, May 8th, 2009 at 9:02 PM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
A: Many girls feel the pressure to wear make-up, even though they don't want to. So first off, don't feel like you are alone in not wanting to wear make-up.
Remember that make-up should be used as an enhancer of your natural God-given beauty, not a legalistic requirement for all girls. Wearing make-up is a choice / preference that you personally make.
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful." (1 Peter 3:3-5, NIV)
Most girls parents have rules around make-up use as a tween and teen, so make sure to respect your parents advice. "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise--"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." " (Ephesians 6:1-3; NIV)
Whether you choose to wear make-up regularly or not, having a personal facial cleansing regime based on your unique skin type is a requirement ! Make-up or no make-up your skin gets dirty and needs to be regularly cleansed and taken care of ! If your skin is especially problematic, talk to your parents about setting up an appointment with a professional Dermatologist so they can help you develop a skin care regime.
Also keep a clear complexion by drinking enough water, maintaining a properly balanced diet, having a regular exercise schedule, getting enough fresh air and sunlight, not getting stressed out / worrying too much, as well as getting enough sleep!
Great question! RUTH

Shannon Kubiak-Primicerio's Beauty Regime Tips

"I try to keep a very balanced idea of beauty. But, I'll admit, I love putting time into external beauty. I exercise regularly and I try to drink tons of water.
Right now I am loving mineral make-up because I have problem skin and this make-up hides and heals broken skin. I make sure I moisturize my skin daily as well and I always wear sunscreen.
I don't have any updated promo photos because I have been experimenting with my hair so much that it's hard to keep up with all of my colors and styles.
I think that it's important for girls to have fun and experiment with different beauty products and hairstyles. But, make sure that in all of the fun, you are remaining true to who God has made you to be and not trying to look like everyone else.
My favorite beauty product at the moment is a brown sugar and aloe lip exfoliator by Tarte cosmetics. It's a great investment and prevents my lips from getting dry and flaky."

Fashion Pick : Ombré
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009 at 12:00 AM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
Hi InTheTimes.com Girls!
" Ombré " is a form of " tie-dye " that gradually transitions from a strong solid color into white. Want to wear this trend without looking like you stepped out of a time machine? Be sure to NOT wear head-to-toe Ombré and instead wear a single piece to accent an otherwise boring outfit ! Click the links above to browse style selections and to purchase your favs!
