"Probably my favorite Christmas memory is when the electricity went out and the pipes busted at home. Daddy built us a roaring fire and we cooked biscuits, scrambled eggs, and ham in my Mama's big old iron spider over the flames.

It was so delicious and so amazing to get a taste of what it was like for people hundreds of years ago, who couldn't even imagine the luxuries that we take for granted every day. Of course that was the good part. The bad part was when we had to wash all the dishes stacked up from two days of no running water! Yet even in that there was something of the romantic.

My favorite Christmas tradition is when on Christmas Eve we all gather around the nativity and partake of communion together as a family. It is such a wonderful ceremony and one that Jesus says gives us life. It gives us a unified spirit as a family and stirs my heart as I hear my father read the story of Jesus' birth. We sing carols while Daddy plays my Great-Grandma Opal's old pump organ."

"My favorite tradition at Christmastime is making cookies with my kids. They have played in flour and cookie dough since I can remember. We look back at pictures of Christmas past and giggle because they were always covered in flour from head to toe!"
