Alisa Childers 'Once Upon a Time' Real Life Love Story

ITT:Your husband and Producer / Drummer Mike, truly is a partner in ministry with you, how did you
meet, how is he an encouragement to you, and what advice would you like to give InTheTimes.com girls
when it comes to finding the Godly 'man of their dreams' ?
Alisa: My husband Mike and I met years ago when ZOEgirl was on tour with Carman. Mike was the drummer for that tour, and it seemed like he kept ending up as the drummer on most of the tours ZOEgirl did after that.
Kristin, Chrissy, and I really thought the world of Mike, and he was kind of like a big brother to us. Mike and I never thought of each other in a romantic way until one day in 2003. I walked up on stage, and he was already up there, just smiling at me. Everything changed in that moment for both of us!
I always knew what an amazing drummer Mike was, but I had no idea what a talented producer and manager he would become ! We produced my first solo album together, and poured our hearts into every drumbeat, keyboard stroke and background vocal. He takes care of everything on the business side, and is as involved with my music as I am.
It's such a gift to have a husband that supports, encourages, and cheers me on. It's crazy how perfect we are for each other. He is so gifted in gluing together the rhythm section, and I am good at the more melodic, ethereal and ambient elements. I am so glad I married a drummer because that is one area where I am totally deficient ! I majored in music in college (I didn't finish), and I got pretty good grades except when it came to the rhythmic dictation class. I took it twice and never passed. Every time I hear numbers or beats, my mind just goes blank. If I had to record the album by myself, every song would be in three different time signatures !
My advice to girls looking for a husband, is to find a guy that loves who you are and the way you do things. If you are with a guy that criticizes the way you do everything, run away ! A couple of my ex-boyfriends were really controlling and manipulative. I still can't figure out why we girls are so attracted to that ! Find someone who adores the way you tie your shoes, answer the phone, and drink your soda. You'll thank me.

Pam Walker's New Year's Resolution
Thursday, January 15th, 2009 at 12:00 AM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
"My New Year’s Resolution for 2009 is to take more time everyday to be in devotion with God.
Sometimes I find that it can be a challenge to find that time alone with God. But this year I really want to be disciplined and set aside a specific time that is God's alone.
I also want to read more books written by a variety of Christian authors."

Audrey Hatcher Woodhams 'Once Upon a Time' Real Life Love Story
Tuesday, January 13th, 2009 at 12:00 AM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
"Doug and I met as Youth Leaders at our Church. He originally thought I was married, and I thought he was much younger than me (he looks a lot younger without his beard).
A few months later, when we both figured out the truth, he asked me on a date. Six months later we were engaged and four months after that we were married.
Marriage is wonderful, that’s for sure. I feel so loved, supported, and safe with Doug. He is worth every day I waited for him.
My advice to girls is to trust God. Marriage is a gift, and He will give it to you at just the right time.
Don’t worry, or waste time doting on a guy when you know God is saying he isn’t the right one or it isn’t the right time. God loves you and only wants what’s best for you.
Take that step to choose His way for your life. Enjoy His presence, just being with Him. Tell Him everything, seek Him first, run after Him with all your heart. One day you’ll probably look over and see your Doug running beside you.
I would also say it is important to remember that marriage, even to the man God has chosen for you, can still be hard. It is so worth it, but it won’t take away all your loneliness or solve all your problems. Only God can fill that role and place in your heart.
And one more thing...being married is wonderful, but being single is wonderful, too! God gave me several years of singleness after I graduated from college. Those turned out to be some of the greatest years of my life -- a real blessing from God. I learned so much about God and myself, and I had so much fun with my friends. I also began singing and writing professionally in Nashville.
All the while, Doug was in Australia working on his schooling. We met when the timing was perfect. God really knows what He’s doing to lead us!"

Wendy Drennen's Favorite Christmas Memory
Monday, January 12th, 2009 at 12:00 AM by Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com
"My husband Glenn proposed to me on Christmas Eve. It was the best Christmas gift ever.
He made me dinner and sang me a song he wrote about us. Then he made me dance with him...I had never danced before, so that was interesting to say the least. It's a dance I'm sure neither one of us will forget. Merry Christmas to us!"
