"Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task.
Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?)
He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil.
He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap." (1 Timothy 3:1-7, NIV)
The Scripture above provides a great checklist for evaluating who should be appointed as the Girls Ministry Director of the Church Girls Ministry. This Scripture also outlines great basic leadership qualities for a Church setting, corporate setting, etc.
The ideal candidate is one who wants to be a Girls Ministry Leader. Do they have a history of ministering to girls in their own personal sphere of influence--small, medium, or large ? Not just when "the Church needs volunteers".
Avoid appointing a "flaky" Girls Ministry Director by randomly selecting a woman to head up this ministry just to "fill a need". Prayerfully consider who you appoint to be a role model for the young girls (and women) in the Church. The effects last for eternity.
The Girls Ministry Director should not be a distraction to the Church ministry. The Church Congregation and members of your community, should not be "talking" more about the Girls Ministry Director and her assorted lifestyle antics. The Church Congregation and the members of your community should be talking about the LORD and what He is doing through the Girls Ministry Director and the Church Girls Ministry to impact girls in your Church / community for Christ.
No one is perfect, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God " (Romans 3:23, NIV) but there is a fine line between simply being human and consciously making a decision to live a sinful lifestyle.
The Girls Ministry Director should have faithful attendance / service to the Church even when they are not "being featured" (ie--they only show up to service when they are scheduled to sing a solo, when their children have been cast as lead parts in the Christmas drama, etc.) A key staple of being a good leader is also being a good follower / supporter of those that are in leadership above you, even when no "perks" are obvious (see 3 John 1:9-11).
