How do I decide what Girls Ministry programs to start ?
By Ruth Tynes / Online Editor / InTheTimes.com Girls Ministry
1. Identify the girls unique needs: The effective Girls Ministry knows the needs of the unique Tween / Pre-Teen, Teen, and Young Adult girls who participate in the ministry. In the Times Girls Ministry has developed an easy-to-use, yet in-depth workbook that helps you learn "How to Identify the Unique Needs of Your Girls Ministry".
2. Decide what types of programs cater to those needs: This is where you get creative! Mix things up, don't be afraid to take risks, experiment. Keep a "running list" of programming / service / event ideas. Don't limit yourself when creating your list of ideas and don't simply fit into a "girls ministry mold". Tap into the imagination that God gave you for this ministry! (see 2 Chronicles 1:1-12)
3. Don't be afraid to start small: Take cues from the Entertainment Industry and "always keep 'em wanting more". Starting "small" gives you somewhere to build up to. Whatever you choose to do, do it well. Start manageable, start realistic. This ensures that you don't become overwhelmed and you don't overwhelm the girls, parents, and Church.
"He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way." (Psalm 25:9, NIV)
4. Get started: Look at your running list of ideas and pick one idea that you know you can easily facilitate in the current status of the Girls Ministry. Make sure that the service / event is beneficial to the girls, parents, and Church. Never simply host a service / event for the sake of "just doing something".
